Akita dogs have become a passion of mine and I absolutely love the breed. By nature, I don't understand dogs and that is surely attributable to the fact that I'm afraid of dogs. I know, sounds nutty, but I am. Hank, my first akita, helped me get over that fear. We spent almost the entire first two years of his life in obedience; bonding. I'm also fortunate in that I had a great breeder who helped me and spent countless hours talking with me about akitas and dogs in general.
My love affair with Akitas started in December of 1987 when I brought Hank home. That is over fourteen years that I have spent with an akita in my life. Today, I'm still struggling to fully understand the nature of dogs and the two akitas who currently live with me, Mikki and Angel. Sherry, of Sherob Akitas, is still hanging in there with me too. She, along with other members of the Lone Star Akita Club, give of their time and tolerate my qustions as a pet owner. I would also like to thank Jeanette, of TR Akitas for all her help and time when I am having a crisis!
This site is dedicated to Hank's memory and was built to try to assist in collecting information on Akitas and dogs in general, and is targeted at the pet owner or those who aren't born understanding dogs. Not all akita owners have the resources I do with several breeders at my disposal. My intention with this website is to make it easier for those of us, who just love our dogs and want to provide a happy, safe and harmonious environment. In honor of the pet akita, I feature different dogs on the home page. Check back soon, there will be another wonderful pet listed here.
